For the Blikkenwerpers exhibition of 2023, I created a digital art installation where mental healthcare practitioners transform into ethereal light circles. I mapped their presence and guidance using Google Maps data. This serene animation, akin to fireflies in the night, captures the essence of solace amidst chaos.
In a world where mental health is paramount, seeking support becomes a beacon of hope during challenging times. This sentiment inspired a 2-minute 45-second animation centered in Brussels.
Using geodata from Google Maps, I created an installation portraying mental healthcare practitioners as gentle, evolving light circles. Their appearance, disappearance, and size changes echo their opening hours, creating a rhythmic dance throughout the week. Like fireflies in the night, these practitioners symbolize constant guidance in our lives.
The animation unfolds in a serene, dark ambiance, enveloping viewers in a calming experience. It captures the essence of seeking solace amidst life's chaos, reminding us to embrace the support available, represented by the comforting glow of these mental health practitioners.
